Skin Resurfacing

Skin Resurfacing Atlanta GA | AlpharettaAs we age, we all have wrinkles, sun damage, and other skin issues that can be improved with skin resurfacing. Rather than light-based treatments, Dr. Beaty uses Portrait Skin Resurfacing.

What is Portrait Skin Resurfacing?

Portrait Skin Resurfacing uses nitrogen plasma energy to improve the skin’s texture and tone. While this sounds somehow space age, it is highly effective for skin resurfacing. The process uses highly energized gas to heat the skin. This heating triggers a “wound response” in the body, which response by producing new collage to “heal” the wound, even though there isn’t an actual wound. Since collagen is a protein that is responsible for providing the skin’s structural framework, increased collagen production firms and improved the skin.

Who is a good candidate for Portrait Skin Resurfacing?

This procedure can be done at different depths depending on the patient’s unique needs. Skin resurfacing is a good option for patients who want to tighten and tone their skin. It also reduces pigmentation problems, fine lines, and wrinkles.

What can be addressed with Portrait Skin Resurfacing?

Dr. Beaty uses this skin resurfacing process to treat these conditions:

  • Sun damage
  • Skin laxity
  • Fine lines
  • Acne scars
  • Hyperpigmentation

What is the Portrait Skin Resurfacing procedure?

A topical anesthetic is first applied to the patient’s face to numb the area before treatment. This keeps the patient pain-free during the procedure. There may be a slight warming sensation during the procedure, but this is not painful.

During the treatment, Dr. Beaty uses a handpiece that transfers the nitrogen energy to the skin on the face. Because the plasma affects the underlying layers of the skin, there isn’t any need for dressings afterward.

What are the side effects of the procedure?

Patients can get right back to their typical activities. Low-level treatments may produce some mild skin redness, itching, and flaking, but these pass in a couple of days.

For deeper treatments, there will be a few days of downtime, as the outer layer of skin browns and sheds three to five days after your session. As the skin rebuilds, this evens out pigmentation and age spots disappear. It also diminishes wrinkles and lines.

Results from the skin resurfacing show when swelling has passed, and initial peeling is complete. But your results continue to improve for up to one year as new collagen is produced and firms the skin.
