The Difference Between Injectables

I get asked so many questions about injectables.  First of all, I was just as confused at when it came to learning the difference.  Before I started working at Beaty Facial Plastic Surgery, I thought Botox was the answer to get rid of any wrinkles on your face. I quickly learned that this is not the case. Botox generally treats the upper face while fillers treat the lower areas. We recently held a successful Lunch and Learn to discuss the many different ways of using injectables to improve the face. Injectables can be divided into two primary categories, neurotoxins and fillers. Botox is a neurotoxins. Juvederm and Voluma are fillers.  Kybella, an injectable acid, is also part of a subcategory.

Dr. Beaty is one of the 7% out of 1.2 million doctors in the U.S. qualified to be an Expert Injector. First of all, he talked extensively about the three aspects he looks at in regard to the aging face. These include the position of tissue, volume of the face, and the skin surface. He explained that there are many benefits to using injections in combination. For example, patients can use Botox to manipulate positions of muscle and to control wrinkling, while using fillers to help with volume regeneration. Juvederm is injected into nasolabial folds, the area that some refer to as the parenthesis. Voluma is a great injectable to augment cheeks.

Lunch and Learns are a great way to become more educated on the services we provide.  As a result, I find a relaxed, intimate environment helps people enjoy the educational experience. I hope you can join us for the next!
