What is EltaMD Skincare?
EltaMD® originated from purely medical beginnings 30 years ago in Switzerland. Its first products were wound care and healing products used in hospitals and by physicians around the world. In 2007, the company make the move to expand from only healing skin to protecting skin as well.
Their first foray into skincare was a line of sophisticated sunscreens. These have become almost legendary in their following, and they are the most recommended by dermatologists in the U.S. All EltaMD® sunscreens have earned the Skin Cancer Foundation Seal of Recommendation.
EltaMD® has created an entire line of zinc oxide sunscreens (no, not the white nose type of zinc oxide, either!). EltaMD® sunscreens don’t contain any oxybenzone or avobenzone, both of which are found in most grocery store sunscreen brands and are damaging coral reefs around the world.
The sunscreen assortment can seem a little daunting. There are facial sunscreens from EltaMD® and there are body and facial sunscreens. Each has different characteristics, such as for “skin types prone to acne, rosacea, and hyperpigmentation” or “extra-sensitive skin types and post-procedure.” We’ll examine your skin and match the right sunscreen to it.
From there EltaMD® has three other areas of skincare products, any of which would be excellent choices for gift giving for your friends who love their skin. EltaMD® now has a Skin Recovery System, with a Toner, Serum, and Light Moisturizer. It offers different EltaMD® Facial Cleansers without the usual harsh chemicals.
